Calvary Baptist Church planning outdoor Easter Sunday service at Ridge Ferry Park

Three years ago the Rev. Gary Graves took a walk with his wife in the park and she made a comment about how it would be the perfect place for an Easter Sunday church service.

This year, that’s where Calvary Baptist Church’s service will be celebrated.

Although he’s excited about the new service, Graves hasn’t decided yet what his sermon will be about.

“All I know is that it’s not going to be a traditional resurrection message,” he said. “But we are going to speak about the needs of the people now and give them hope. We are all very excited about what’s happening here at Calvary Baptist.”

Graves said he hopes to make the outdoor ceremony a tradition with his church.

“We are committed to this 100 percent,” he said. “We’re going to see how it goes this year, and adapt to make it even better each year.”

The Easter service will be at 10:30 a.m. April 20. For more information call 706-233-3370.
